9 Baked Treats For The Holidays

by Bernadette Machard de Garmont

If you’re gearing up for a cookie swap, prepping a holiday treat platter, or simply want to bring something sweet to the office to share, we’ve got your back! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite recipes that you can use with your Thermomix® this season. These goodies don’t require a lot of time or kitchen prowess, but they might inspire you to channel your inner Martha Stewart, and start gifting everyone you know with a tin of homemade cookies. From classic chocolate chip to gluten-free macaroons, there’s something for just about everyone, and with Thermomix®, prep is a breeze!

The Classics

Chocolate Chip: Quite possibly one of the most popular cookies at any time of the year, chocolate chip cookies are one of Santa’s most-loved (so we hear). This version from Bake Play Smile uses big chunks of chocolate, a cup of rolled oats, and a touch of sea salt for a twist on a perennial favorite.

Snickerdoodles: These buttery, cinnamon-laced cookies have their signature tang to them from cream of tartar. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, you’ll want to make plenty of these—some to give away and some to stash for yourself!

Peanut Butter Cookies: Old-fashioned peanut butter cookies date back to the early 1900’s and are a serious American classic. Rich and buttery with chewy insides, these will bring you right back to childhood in one bite. We suggest pairing with your finest milk.

Cookies with International Flair

Pistachio Cranberry Biscotti:  These traditional Italian cookies will impress your guests when you say you’ve made them yourself. Baking the dough into loaves and then slicing and baking again gives this cookie its traditional crunch. Use the Thermomix® to whip these up in a flash, then serve alongside a cup of coffee or tea after dinner, or wrap them up to give away as gifts.

Fun To Make With Kids

Sugar Cookies: Just a few ingredients and your imagination are all you’ll need to make these simple, kid-friendly cookies from MrsDplus3. Cut these into your favorite shapes and frost with an easy glacé icing in your favorite colors, and let the little ones get in on the action with sprinkles!

Gingerbread Biscuits: Sweet and spicy, gingerbread is practically synonymous with the holiday season. These can also be cut into various shapes, from snowflakes to gingerbread people. Let your kids help decorate these with candy buttons and other adornments.

Gluten-Free Cookies

Meringue cookies: Meringues can be notoriously finicky, but they’re simple with the Thermomix®. This flour-free, foolproof recipe provides a simple ratio of sugar to egg whites that you can adjust to the amount of cookies you want to make. Also try this recipe from Sophia’s Kitchen for a chocolate-swirled version of this gluten-free goodie.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip: If you’re gluten-free, you can still enjoy a classic chocolate chip cookie that uses gluten-free flour (make your own, or brands like Cup4Cup and Bob’s Red Mill offer them). Recipes for handmade dough as well as Thermomix® directions are included here. Now everyone can get in on the chocolate chip goodness!
